I’ve been working on my new travel website and I was looking for a way to bring live Google reviews into my website.
With WordPress (of course) there is an easy way to this.
In this tutorial, I use the Free version of Reviews Feed by Smash Balloon.
How to Embed Google Reviews into WordPress
Step 1: Install the plugin
First, install the free plugin via Plugins -> Add new. Just search for Reviews Feed.
Then click Install and then Activate.
Step 2: Create your New Review Feed
Next, go into the plugin and click + add new to start creating your feed
Step 3: Add Google as your Source
Click on + Add Source and then click Google.
Step 4: Setup your Google API key
You’ll need a Google API Key. Follow this guide to find out how to get one. Once you have it, paste it in the box.
Step 5: Add your Location
On the final step you just need add the unique identifier of the location you want to pull reviews in for. You can get the code on this website.
You’re location is added! Click Next.
Step 6: Choose your template
Choose your template, and click Next. There is only one available in the free version. If you want to upgrade, here’s my link – I’d really appreciate it if you use it. 😊
Step 7: Customize your template
On this page, you can customize the layout as you please. Adjust the number of columns, borders, and spacing here. Once you’re done click Save.
Step 8: Get your embed shortcode
Click on the Embed button. You’ll see the shortcode you need. Copy it into your clipboard.
Step 9: Paste the shortcode into the shortcode block
Edit the post or page you want to add the reviews. Insert the shortcode block and paste the code in.
Step 10: You’re done
Take a look at the post or page. You should see your reviews!
Congratulations!
