It looks like some sites are seeing a bit of an increase in traffic from Google again!

If you read the comments, other people are agreeing they’ve seen a bit of a recovery, too.

Unfortunately, I’m not seeing it on my existing sites yet.

How are your sites looking?

I’ve been running some Facebook ads to sell some Estepona-inspired t-shirts.

I’ll be sharing all the info soon.

However, something weird happened yesterday.

A conversion was reported in my account…

The thing is, I knew for a fact that this didn’t come from Facebook.

The order was from my mum..

..she was ordering a Tee as a gift for my dad.

And my mum doesn’t have Facebook or Instagram..

This smelt really fishy to me.

So I reached out to facebook to find out what was going on..

Something didn’t seem right to me…

They’ve said I should remove the domain or something. I’m not sure how that’ll help.

I launched my new project, Estepona.Life yesterday.

The launch went well, and I got quite a bit of traffic via social media and the 50 newsletter subscribers I’d managed to collect.

I also submitted the site to Google via the search console.

This morning I received a few emails from Google about some minor indexing issues. This meant that the crawlers had visited and my site was already starting to get indexed.

So I jumped on the computer and started doing a few searches around some of the articles I’ve published.

And I was very pleased to see that the site is already doing pretty well in the SERPs…

The site only has a few links so far, mostly from WP Eagle and the estepona.life social media channels.

It’s early days, but it’s looking promising!

Does using social media adverts actually help grow your channel?

I’ve been testing out the various advertising across the social media platforms for my new estepona.life project. I’ve tried all of them so far, aprart from X.

Out of all of them i’ve found boosting Instagram Reals to be the most successful. The boosts have attracted the people that I want – people in Estepona! And these people have been following my account and engaging with my content.

However, it’s not been the same experience with the promote tab within YouTube.

In my experience and from what I’ve heard from other YouTubers that have used it is that although you can grow your subscribers, they are of very low quality.

The new subs don’t engage with any of your content, like leaving a comment or watching the videos for very long, and they don’t click like.

This then has a negative effect on your organic reach as lack of engagement from your subscribers means that the algo thinks your videos suck so it doesn’t extend their reach any further.

This is, of course, bad. Really bad…

How to get more stuff done

It’s actually quite simple really.

Here’s what you need to do.

• Go to bed earlier
• Wake up earlier (6am or before)
• Make a cup of tea or coffee
• Start work on the biggest and most important task you have

And when you get up don’t

• Check your email
• Go on social media
• do anything apart from what needs to be done

and that’s it!

Everyone is moving away from SEO.

Even SEO legends like Matt Digitty…

SEO should now be IGNORED as a traffic channel.

Google’s algorithm says if you’re not:

1⃣ A mega-authoritative website (DR90+)
2⃣ Reddit or other partner with a back office deal
3⃣ A paid advertiser

… you’re not allowed in the search results.

Social media is a good option.

However social media has a dark side to it that you need to be aware of.

And once you’re aware of it you need to be able to overcome it and not let it stop you from succeeding on YouTube, Facebook, X and the rest of them.

Basically, some people are gonna be mean. Really mean.

In this Vlog I share my experiences of the trolls and a recent experience I had with them in my new Facebook Group.

As you might already know i’m working on a brand new online business all about where I live in Spain.

The project is called Estepona.Life and I’m hoping to build a valuable resource for people that live and visit my town.

It’s going to be far more that just a website – it’s going to be a complete business.

The Plan – 5 Things

The project is made of 5 key parts.

• Real, Authentic Content
• User-generated Content
• Ecommerce
• Social Media
• Directory

1. Real, authentic content based on experience

• No more thin, sloppy content.
• No more AI content.

• I’m just creating real content based on real experiences.

I’m using words that come out of my head, photos that I’ve taken with my phone, and videos that I recorded and produced.

I’m hoping Google loves and that AI feeds off it.

2. User-generated content

Google loves user-generated content.

I think people do too.

So I’m going to encourage people to leave their thoughts and comments.

I think a big ol’ banner should do it.

I customize the banner based on the content.

3. Ecommerce

Ecommerce sites weren’t hit too badly in the recent Google updates

It’s also an extra way to monetize the website.

So I’ve been using Kittl to design some Estepona-inspired t-shirts.

I’m really pleased with how they’ve turned out.

I’ll be running some Facebook ads to promote them and wearing them in the Vlogs, etc.

4. Social Media

I’ve been going in hard with social media.

Posting multiple posts a day on all the main platforms.

I’m hopeful it will bring me traffic, raise awareness and increase my EEAT.

5. Directory

I’m creating pages for every location in Estepona.

It’s taking some time, but hopefully, it will ultimately be a valuable resource.

Each page includes useful information, including a map, opening hours, reviews, and my thoughts.

Visitors can also leave their comments about place which builds up the user-generated content.

The Plan – Monetization

I’ve got a few ideas on how I will make some money from the website.

I’ll list these in the order of importance.

Local Deals

I think a major part of the business is going to be local deals. I’ve got a few ideas on how I’m going to do this, but it will probably mostly be selling things like:

• Advertising space on the website
• Sponsored social media content
• Sponsored posts on the website

Affiliate

Of course, there is going to some affiliate.

I’ll be listing hotels, flights, car hire and other services that can all be monetized through affiliate.

For example, Booking.com have a widget you can embed…

I’ll also be linking to flights and car hire.

I may do a little Amazon where relevant. Maybe.

Ecommerce

I’m hoping the e-commerce will be more than just a bit of fun and a way to add credibility to the site, in Googles opinion

I really like how the t-shirts have turned out and have had some positive feedback from locals.

Once the site is live, I’m going to try out some Facebook Ads to drive a few sales.

I’m using Woocomerce connected up to Printify.

I’l do a video on how I set it all up soon.

Ad Networks

I may put some ads on eventually from a network like Ezoic or Mediavine.

We’ll see how it goes.

I just got back from Affiliate Gathering 2024.

I met loads of really interesting and smart people who shared lots of juicy golden nuggets of advice regarding making money online.

One of the biggest takeaways, from Mads Singers in particular, was that we’ve got to stop thinking about websites and SEO and move on to thinking about online as a business.

This means things like:

• Generating traffic from lots of sources not just Google
• Using paid ads
• Collecting email addresses
• Creating funnels and using them to maximize the value of each visitor
• Creating and selling our own products or drop shipping other peoples
• and much more

So, I’m going to be making some changes to the cost that I publish on WP Eagle.

There will still be lots of WordPress content as I believe that WordPress is still a great platform to build an online business on.

I am, however, going to be moving away from Niche Website focused content.

Instead, I’ll be creating content around Online Business in general which include things like:

• Email marketing
• Creating rich content like video
• Social media strategy
• E-commerce
• Dropshipping
• and loads more

I really hope you’ll like the new stuff I’m going to be putting out.
