It’s time for another Google update.

However, this one does seem to be quite positive as some bit sites, like RetroDodo and HouseFresh that were hit hard in the previous updates, are getting rankings, snippets, and traffic back.

How are your sites doing?

It might seem good to set lots of goals and targets for yourself.

But what happens if you don’t achieve them?

It can actually make things worse.

Here’s my latest update on Estepona Life.

It’s going pretty well. I just need to add more content more quickly.

Here are the key stats:

Content:

• 16 General Articles
• 39 Directory posts
• 18 Products

General Traffic:

• Around 40 a day
• Direct is the biggest source
• Then Google
• Then Facebook

Search:

• 16 clicks a day
• Impressions on over 676 keywords

Social:

• Instagram has over 1000 followers
• Engagement is ok – gets likes and comments – mostly negative about the town
• Facebook page growing with Ads – 6p per like – Total followers: 313 
• YouTube: 294 subs and over 30,000 views so far
• X: very slow 37 – followers
• Pinterest: very slow 
• TikTok: very slow

Google recently destroyed thousands of people’s earnings by making changes to Google Search.

Now, they’ve turned their attention to YouTube.

The shareholders at Google want more money so the plan is to keep you on Google products, like YouTube and Search for as long as possible.

Some of the things that can and might change are:

• Descriptions being hidden or removed completely (no more links)
• Cards are being changed so you can’t add links
• New jump-forward features makes it easy not to watch sponsored parts of videos

It looks like some sites are seeing a bit of an increase in traffic from Google again!

If you read the comments, other people are agreeing they’ve seen a bit of a recovery, too.

Unfortunately, I’m not seeing it on my existing sites yet.

How are your sites looking?

I’ve been running some Facebook ads to sell some Estepona-inspired t-shirts.

I’ll be sharing all the info soon.

However, something weird happened yesterday.

A conversion was reported in my account…

The thing is, I knew for a fact that this didn’t come from Facebook.

The order was from my mum..

..she was ordering a Tee as a gift for my dad.

And my mum doesn’t have Facebook or Instagram..

This smelt really fishy to me.

So I reached out to facebook to find out what was going on..

Something didn’t seem right to me…

They’ve said I should remove the domain or something. I’m not sure how that’ll help.

I launched my new project, Estepona.Life yesterday.

The launch went well, and I got quite a bit of traffic via social media and the 50 newsletter subscribers I’d managed to collect.

I also submitted the site to Google via the search console.

This morning I received a few emails from Google about some minor indexing issues. This meant that the crawlers had visited and my site was already starting to get indexed.

So I jumped on the computer and started doing a few searches around some of the articles I’ve published.

And I was very pleased to see that the site is already doing pretty well in the SERPs…

The site only has a few links so far, mostly from WP Eagle and the estepona.life social media channels.

It’s early days, but it’s looking promising!

After many, many hours of work i’ve got my new project, Estepona.Life, to a point where I’m happy to make it live!

I’m really happy with how it’s coming together. It’s looking good!

The site was built with Popcorn Theme.

It’s now time to promote it!

To get some traffic, I’m going to be doing the following:

• Submit to Google search console (I’m hoping to rank quite quickly as it’s quite low competition)
• Email the 50 subs I already have
• Let everyone know on social (over 1000 followers across all platforms)
• Run facebook ads to sell some t-shirts
